Intensive Russian Attacks Eliminate Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a different assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying protection systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen rockets attacked energy facilities, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Local officials said the city came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and three other people were injured.

The strikes follow evenings of aerial attacks in the territory, portions of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to spot.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and officials were bracing for additional strikes.
